Russian Warship Performs Escort Duties In Gulf Of Aden

The Russian destroyer Marshal Shaposhikov, flagship of an anti-piracy task force off the Somali coast, was prepared to escort a merchant convoy through the Gulf of Aden on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.

"The convoy will consist of five vessels and the Russian warship will ensure their safe passage," a spokesman for Russia's Defense Ministry said.
