Russia has deployed paratroopers to its Kant airbase in Kyrgyzstan to provide additional security to the facility, reports RIA Novosti.
Two companies of paratroopers, about 150 personnel, were dispatched after violent opposition protests forced Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev to flee the capital.
