The Russian air force has begun conducting daily patrols in northern Syria, reports the Tass news agency (Moscow).
The first patrol took place on Thursday, when Russian army helicopters patrolled Kwaires airfield, Ayn Issa, Raqqa and the Assad reservoir.
The mission is designed to protect Russian military police deployed to the safe zone established by Turkey in the region, a spokesman said on Friday.
