Russian commandos on Thursday stormed an oil tanker that had been captured by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden, RIA Novosti reports.
The operation was launched before dawn after it was determined the tanker's 23 crew members were in a secure location inaccessible to the pirates, Russian navy officials said.
Commandos from the Marshal Shaposhnikov destroyer then boarded the tanker, capturing around 10 pirates. One pirate was reportedly killed, and others were injured.
