The Algerian navy has commissioned two more El Hadi Slimane-class submarines, bringing its fleet to four, reports Naval Today.
On Wednesday, the Ouarsenis (031) and Hoggar (032) formally entered service during a ceremony at the Mers el Kebir naval base in Oran, reported Defence Web (South Africa).
The submarines, based on the Russian Project 636 design, were ordered in 2014. The first reportedly arrived in Algeria in mid-2018 and the second in December.
