Chronic underfunding of the Royal Navy has left it unable to perform its vital missions, says a think-tank cited by London's Daily Telegraph.
The navy has fewer and aging warships, according to retired Vice Adm. Sir Jeremy Blackham and Prof. Gwyn Prins of the London School of Economics, in a report for the Royal United Services Institute.
Without more ships, the navy will not be able to provide its traditional deterrence to safeguard trade routes, says the paper.
