A force of about 80 British Royal Marines are on standby off the coast of Yemen to assist with a possible evacuation of Britons, the BBC reports.
The marines are aboard a support ship, RFA Fort Victoria, according to naval sources.
Several hundred Britons are thought to be in Yemen, which has suffered violence and political instability for weeks.
