Roadside Bomb Kills District Chief

Militants killed a district chief in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday with a roadside bomb, Pakistan's Dawn reports.
The chief of Paktia province's Shewak district died after his vehicle was hit by the blast as he drove by, a provincial spokesman said.
Separately, a bomb blast in Badghis province in Afghanistan's northwest wounded nine civilians, including one woman and one child, said the provincial health director.
