The 5.56-mm ammunition used by British soldiers in Afghanistan is not effective enough, according to a new study cited by London's Daily Telegraph.
The rounds "tail off" after about 980 feet (300 m), while half of all firefights in Helmand, where the majority of British troops are based, occur between 300 m and 3,000 ft (900 m), according to the report.
