Richards Named To Lead Defense Staff

Gen. Sir David Richards has been named as the next chief of the Defense Staff, reports London's Daily Telegraph.

Richards, the current army head, will replace Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup, who is scheduled to retire in October.

Richards also commanded the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) from May 2006 to February 2007, becoming the first British general to command U.S. troops since World War II.
