Reserve Squadron Acts As Opposition To Enhance Skills Of Marine F-35 Pilots

A Marine Corps aggressor squadron has begun training Marine F-35B Lightning II fighter pilots, reports the service.
The Marine Fighter Training Squadron 401 (VMFT-401), based at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., flies F-5N Tiger II fighters to mimic the tactics of enemy aircraft to reproduce what combat pilots are likely to face in a conflict.
The unit is the first and only reserve squadron in the Corps that acts as an opposition force.
