U.S. and government forces killed more civilians in first quarter 2019 than did the Taliban, according to a new report from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
Civilian casualties fell over the first three months of the year to 1,773, down from 2,305 during the same time period in 2018, according to the report that was released on Wednesday.
Deaths fell from 799 to 581, while injuries declined from 1,506 to 1,192, the lowest figures since 2013.
