Renamed Commando Unit Activated In Plymouth

The Royal Marines have a newly renamed commando unit that stood up during a ceremony at the Stonehouse Barracks in Plymouth, reports the U.K. Ministry of Defense.

The 30 Commando Information Exploitation (IX) Group replaces the U.K. Landing Force Support Group, the name used by the unit from 2001 to 2010.

The original 30 Commando unit began service in 1942 under MI6 officer Ian Fleming, who later wrote the books in the popular James Bond series.
