Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles Bought From Nova Scotia Firm

The Royal Canadian Navy has ordered six remote operated vehicles (ROV) for use in underwater environments, reports the Canadian Dept. of National Defense.

Aurora ROV Systems of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, will produce the small, remotely controlled, underwater robots, which can operate at depths of up to 950 meters (more than 3,100 feet).

The order was announced on Thursday by Peter MacKay, the minister of national defense.

The total cost was estimated at Can$1.66 million...
