Remington Lands Army Contract For Thousands Of M4 Carbines

The U.S. Army has ordered 24,000 M4/M4A1 carbines from Remington Arms for over $16 million, reports the Military Times.

Colt had been the Army's sole M4 supplier since 2002.

The contract includes options for up to 120,000 carbines worth $84 million, although U.S. Army Contracting Command lists the maximum potential contract value as $180 million.

The rifles will be made at Remington's factory in Ilion, N.Y., from the Colt technical data package, according to the contract.
