The Moldovan government has decided to sell its six remaining MiG-29 fighters and use the proceeds to buy helicopters, reports Interfax-AVN (Russia).
The aircraft are no longer fit for flight and would require US$27 million in repairs, money that the government does not have, said Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuta.
The service lives of the aircraft expired last year, but they have not been used for 12 years, Marinuta said.
