Registration In North Reported Low For Southern Sudan Vote

Very few people have this far registered in the northern part of Sudan to vote for an upcoming referendum on the possible secession of southern Sudan, Reuters reports.

Just 9,000 of a half million southern Sudanese living in the northern part of the country have registered, said officials.

Only southern Sudanese can vote in January, but voting centers have been set up in the north and in eight foreign countries for refugees and expatriates.
