The regional government in China's Xinjiang province says it plans to step up border security in 2017 to prevent terrorist infiltration, reports the China Daily.
Border controls were already increased in last year, said Shohrat Zakir, the chairman of the region. He made his comments on Monday to the regional Congress in Urumqi.
Many of the terrorists who carried out attacks in the region received training abroad and returned illegally, said one official.
