Rebels Attack Village Of Pro-Moscow Chechen President

Rebels launched a deadly attack Sunday on the home village of the Moscow-backed Chechen president, Reuters reports.

Twelve insurgents were killed in the assault on the village of Tsentoroi, said President Ramzan Kadyrov. The president said he led the operation to fight off the attack.

Some 30 rebels were involved in the assault, police said. Five police officers were reportedly killed and 17 others were wounded.
