RTX announced on Aug. 3, 2026, that Raytheon has installed the first SPY-6(V)4 radar array at the U.S. Navy’s Wallops Island test site in Virginia. The installation is part of the ARLEIGH BURKE-class Flight IIA modernization effort, with the site serving as a location for radar testing before the system is installed aboard USS PINCKNEY.
The SPY-6(V)4 testing is expected to continue from 2026 through 2028. Featuring 24 modular assemblies per face, the four-face radar array provides continuous 360 degree coverage and simultaneously defends against missile, air, surface, and electronic threats.
