Rangers Sent To Djibouti To Support Possible Ethiopia Evac

The U.S. is stationing forces near Ethiopia to prepare for potential contingency operations as rebel groups march toward the capital, reports CNN.

Personnel from the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, have been sent to Djibouti to be ready to provide assistance to the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, a military source said.

The Rangers would provide assistance in the event the situation in Ethiopia worsens.

Rebel groups have recently advanced south toward Addis Ababa.
