A new study finds that Defense Dept. efforts to increase the use of alternative fuels has little direct benefit to the U.S. military, reports the Rand Corp., which conducted the analysis.
Any benefits from investment in alternative fuels by the Pentagon will accrue to the nation as a whole, according to researchers. The study focused on fuels that can be produced from coal or various renewable resources, including seed oils, waste oils, and algae.
