Rail Gun Prototype Set For Record-Setting Demo

The Office of Naval Research is ready to conduct a record-setting test of its experimental electromagnetic rail gun at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Va., reports the Navy NewsStand.
Friday's scheduled test is expected to use 32-megajoules of energy. This would set a new world record.
The demonstration is also intended to show the tactical relevance of the technology, officials said.
