RAF Leaves Kinross, Army Moves In

The British Royal Air Force has transferred one of its bases to the army, reports the U.K. Ministry of Defense.

RAF Kinloss in northern Scotland was formally transferred to the 39 Engineer Regiment last week. It is now known as the Kinloss Barracks.

The facility had been an RAF base since 1939.

The 39 Engineer Regiment is an air support engineer unit that specializes in building and repairing runways, hangars and hard standings for RAF aircraft.
