The British Royal Air Force has disbanded 23 Squadron, which operated E-3D Sentry airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft, reports the U.K. Ministry of Defense.
For 13 years, the squadron has been based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
The squadron, which was originally created in 1915, was deactivated as part of a reorganization program.
Under the program, 8 Squadron will operate all of the U.K.'s E-3D Sentry aircraft.
