Radar Systems Protecting N. American Airspace To Be Upgraded

The Canadian has finalized a Can$55.6 million (US$55.7 million) deal to modernize two air force radar systems that help defend North American airspace, Agence France-Presse reports.
The radars will replace aging systems in Alberta and Quebec and provide "long-range air surveillance and aerospace control capability," according to a statement issued by the Defense Ministry.
Deliveries are expected to begin in February 2013, said Defense Minister Peter MacKay.
