Prototype Maritime System Guides Itself In Gulf Of Mexico

Leidos, a Virginia-based defense company, says it has successfully demonstrated a prototype maritime autonomy system for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) program.
The system was installed on a 42-foot (13-m) work boat that served as a surrogate vessel to evaluate sensor, maneuvering and mission functions of the prototype ACTUV vessel, according to a Leidos release on Monday.
