The Bangladeshi government is increasing its crackdown on the main opposition party, reports Reuters.
The opposition has been backing violent protests on the anniversary of last year's disputed election.
Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, vice president of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was arrested on Thursday at his home in Dhaka on charges of attempting to murder a ruling party lawmaker, said police officials.
