Oromo people in Ethiopia have been demonstrating after deadly attacks by a suspected Amhara militant group, reports the Addis Standard.

Dozens of people were killed and as many as 350,000 people displaced in attacks allegedly by the Fano Militia in the East Wollega area in the western Oromia state on Nov. 25 and Nov. 29.

Over the weekend, there were several reports of fighting between federal and regional security forces and members of the Fano Militia and Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). The clashes resulted in an unspecified number of civilian casualties and further displacement.

On Monday, a video showing Fano Militia members parading pikes with heads on them circulated on local social media.

Ethiopian federal officials and Amhara and Oromo regional officials have not yet commented on the attacks.

On Monday and Tuesday morning, Oromo students at schools and universities near Addis Ababa protested, with some being dispersed by police.
