Afghan and U.S. officials have exchanged proposals to release billions of dollars in Afghan central bank reserves held abroad to a trust fund in an effort to relieve an ongoing economic crisis, reports Reuters.
Such a move could restore trust in the central bank by establishing a wall between the funds and the de facto Afghan government led by the Taliban.
