The U.S. Air Force continues to study possible options to replace its T-38 trainers, the Air Force Times reports.
Officials have indicated pilots could train on jets, simulators or a combination.
Some variation of the T-38 has been used to train fighter and bomber pilots for at least 50 years. The latest T-38Cs went into service about five years ago.
The Air Force Training Command is expected to release a draft analysis of possible replacements by the end of the year.
