Pro-Government Militiamen Killed In Checkpoint Attack

Afghan officials have blamed the Taliban for an attack on a security checkpoint in Farah province, reports the BBC.
On Wednesday night, gunmen strangled a guard and then shot and killed seven local government-sponsored militiamen, said the provincial deputy governor.
The Taliban targeted the checkpoint's commander because he was a former insurgent who had defected to the government, said security officials.
