President Sacks Intelligence Chief Ahead Of Elections

President John Magufuli has fired the head of Tanzania's intelligence service, reports the Citizen (Dar es Salaam).

Modestus Kipilimba was removed from his post after three years, reported Reuters. No reason for the firing was made public.

Under Tanzanian law, the intelligence chief is appointed for a five-year term, which can be renewed.
