President Replaces Top Military Leaders

President Goodluck Jonathan has just named new military leaders for the Nigerian armed forces, reports the African Press Agency.

The nominees are intended to replace those whose terms expired in August. Appointments are subject to parliamentary approval.

Maj. Gen. O.J. Ihenjirika was named to replace Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau as the army chief of staff.

Air Chief Marshal Paul Dike, the chief of defense staff, will be succeeded by Air Marshal Oluseyin Petirin.
