President Relieves National Security Adviser, Defense Minister

President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked two top Nigerian defense officials amid rising sectarian violence, reports the Leadership (Abuja).
Gen. Andrew Azazi, the national security adviser, and Defense Minister Alhaji Haliru Mohammed Bello were fired on Friday after the president returned from an environmental summit in Brazil, reported Al Jazeera (Qatar).
Retired Col. Sambo Dasuki was named to replace Azazi. A replacement for Bello has not yet been appointed.
