Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have announced that they will resign after large-scale protests in Colombo, reports United Press International.
Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced on Saturday that Rajapaksa’s resignation would enter effect on July 13.
Also on Saturday, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced his resignation on social media.
