President OKs National Naval Force

President Gurbangulu Berdsmuhammadov has approved plans to create a national naval force for Turkmenistan, reports the Azeri Press Agency.

The service, organized under the Defense Ministry, will operate under the brigade principle, officials said.

In the past, Turkmen naval and marine units were part of the border forces.
