President Names Defense Minister Maiga As Prime Minister

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali has named his defense minister as the prime minister, repots Deutsche Welle.

On Saturday, Keita announced that Prime Minister Modibo Keita, had been replaced by Defense Minister Abdoulaye Idrissa Maiga. The former prime minister offered his resignation on Friday, the president said in a statement.

Modibo Keita is a relative to the president and of the founding father of the nation; he also served as prime minister briefly in 2002. ...
