President Edgar Lungu has fired his army chief and deputy commander and sworn in their replacements, reports the Lusaka Times (Zambia).
On Monday, Lungu appointed Lt. Gen. William Sikazwe as army chief and swore him into his new post. Sikazwe previously served as the army chief of operations.
Sikazwe replaces Lt. Gen. Paul Mihova, who had served as army commander since October 2011, reported Reuters. No reason was given for the dismissal.
