Chilean President Sebastian Pinera has extended a state of emergency following violence that has killed seven people, reports Reuters.
On Sunday, Pinera said that the state of emergency would be extended north and south of Santiago, the capital, including Antofagasta, Chillan, Punta Arenas, Talca, Temuco Valdivia and Valparaiso.
Military authorities said that protests would be prohibited past 7 p.m., though witnesses reported that demonstrations continued past the curfew.
