President Dismisses Defense, Foreign Ministers

Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza has fired his defense and foreign ministers, reports Reuters.
Monday’s firings came after last week’s attempted coup led by generals apparently opposed to the president’s efforts to seek a third term in office.
The announcement gave no reason for the dismissals.
The “president does not have to explain,” said a spokesman in a text message. The constitution, he said, “gives him powers to (do) so.”
