Acknowledging that there were problems with policies banning ransom payments to terrorists, President Barack Obama has announced changes to U.S. policy on hostages, reports NBC News.
On Wednesday, Obama said that the government would no longer hold the threat of prosecution over families of American hostages who attempted to pay ransoms.
The change came after a review of the policy ordered after the death of several American hostages last year, reported the BBC.
