Potential Seen For Naval Unmanned Patrol Boats

Canada's defense minister says the navy is considering acquiring unmanned surface vessels for its fleet, reports the Canadian Press.
The technology for USVs is still behind that of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), but the time is coming when it will become advanced enough to fill a naval role, Defense Minister Peter MacKay said in an interview.
The minister recently announced a Can$3 million (US$2.9 million) grant to Rolls-Royce for USV research in Nova Scotia.
