The Russian ambassador to Iran maintains that the Iranian government has to have permission from the U.N. Security Council to buy fighter jets from Moscow, reports the Tehran Times.
Earlier this year, Iran held talks with Russia for the purchase of Su-30SM fighters.
Under U.N. Resolution 2231, the delivery of such weapons requires the permission of the Security Council as part of Iran's nuclear agreement with the West.
