With Poor Domestic Suppliers, Moscow Seeks Foreign Arms

Russia's defense minister says he wants to import new weapons instead of using the outdated arms provided by domestic manufacturers, Agence France-Presse reports.
Anatoly Serdyukov told Russian Newsweek that his ministry will look abroad to spend up to $600 billion in the next decade.
"Our weapons often do not meet the required standards," Serdyukov acknowledged. Only about 10 percent of the Russian military's weapons are considered modern.
