Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the U.S. will hold an international summit next month focused on Iran's destabilizing activities in the Middle East, reports Fox News.
The summit, scheduled for Feb. 13-14 in Poland, will bring together dozens of countries from around the world to promote stability and curb Iran's negative influence, Pompeo said on Friday.
Pompeo also suggested that Syrian President Bashar Assad might have a role to play in Syria's future, reversing previous statements from the administration.
The announcement comes on the heels of a fiery speech in Cairo in which Pompeo criticized Iranian influence in the region.
The secretary is currently on an eight-day trip across the Middle East that is focused on maintaining support for anti-ISIS and anti-Iran efforts across the region.
