Police in the western part of Tunisia used tear gas on Tuesday to disperse a demonstration.
Protests apparently sparked by unemployment and the high cost of living turned violent in the city of Thala, Al Jazeera (Qatar) reports.
About 250 student demonstrators were involved, marching in support of protests that were held in the city of Sidi Bouzid, officials said.
Students reportedly set fire to tires and attacked local political offices.
