At least five militants and four police officers were killed Wednesday during a police sweep in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, RIA Novosti reports.
Four other officers were injured during the operation, which took place in the village of Kostek in Dagestan's Khasavyurt region, federal investigators said.
Earlier Wednesday, unidentified assailants killed one police officer and injured another in an attack in the Dagestani city of Derbent, officials said.
