Police in Northern Ireland have launched an investigation after a live explosive device was found in County Down, reports Irish public broadcaster RTE (Dublin).
About 15 homes were evacuated after police identified a suspicious object in Newry on Saturday afternoon.
The device was viable and could have easily detonated if handled, said Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Superintendent Norman Haslett.
