Police Defuse Bomb Planted In N. Ireland

Dissident Irish republicans are believed to be behind the planting of a large bomb in Northern Ireland, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
The explosive device was defused on Saturday in Newry on the main Belfast-Dublin road, said police.
The bomb had about 500 pounds of homemade explosives and would have caused numerous casualties if it exploded, said a police spokeswoman cited by CNN.
